For those who enjoy nature and the outdoors, there is nothing like approaching these summer days to the natural pools that are close to Madrid, we have several options very close to the capital, today we recommend 4 of these wonderful natural pools to quell this heat that takes us a little overwhelmed.
The idea is that you know where they are and what you can find in these natural spaces.
Piscinas naturales de Las Dehesas
The water comes from streams in the area, although they are called natural pools, but they are not the most natural, they are treated with chlorine, to adapt it to bathing it receives this treatment.
They are located in the Sierra Madrileña, about 4.6 kilometers from the town of Cercedilla, about 50 minutes by car from Madrid, but you can only get there by car, you can also go by public transport, take the Renfe (commuter train) that leaves from the Chamartín station to the Cercedilla station, these months of July and August they offer a free bus that takes you from the town center to the recreational area.
This recreational area is open from June 15 to September 1, Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The price of admission is €6 per adult (from 14 to 64 years old, both inclusive) on weekdays and €7 on weekends and holidays. For children and people over 65 there is a single fee of €4. You can also purchase the tickets online.
With the price of admission, in addition to enjoying these pools, you can find:

Despite having a place where you can eat, you can take your food from home.
Las presillas de Rascafría
They are located in Rascafría, 80 km from Madrid, in the Valley of El Paular, there are 3 pools, in the Lozoya riverbed with spectacular views of Pico Peñalara.
To get to these natural pools by public transport is not that simple, you must take a bus from the Plaza Castilla station that leaves you in the town of Rascafría and then walk to Las Precillas.
With a large grassy area, where you can sunbathe or have a picnic.
Access is free, well actually you have to pay for the use of the car park:
- Tourism €9
- Buses €30
- Motorcycles €3
Within this cost you can use the toilets, tables and kiosks.
They are open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., from June to mid to late September.
To eat, you have two options: take the food prepared from home and eat in the pools themselves.
And as its name indicates Rascafría, the water is very cold.
El pantano de San Juan
Baptized as the beach of Madrid, “There is no beach here, go, go” (as the song of the eighties says), located about 50 km from Madrid we can find 14 km of freshwater beach, where we can swim and do water sports activities, with all these benefits if you decide to visit it on a weekend you will have to get up early because it is very crowded.
The reservoir collects the waters of the Alberche and Cofio rivers, which also supplies water and electricity to the southwest of the Community of Madrid.
Because it is such a popular place, the reservoir has parking services, bathrooms, good signage, hiking trails that join the water sports that we mentioned before, several restaurants so you can taste both more elaborate menus such as sandwiches or combined dishes, ice cream and soft drinks.
There is no admission charge.
It can be reached by public transport, take the bus line 551, from the bus station of Príncipe Pio.
Piscina natural de Riosequillo
It is listed as the largest natural pool in Spain. It has an area of 4,500 square meters. It is located in Buitrago de Lozoya and receives water from the Riosequillo reservoir.
By car it can take us about 50 minutes, and for those who want to go by public transport, bus 191, leaving from Plaza de Castilla. Once in Buitrago de Lozoya you have to walk a bit until you reach the pools.
Access costs €4 during the week and €5 on weekends for adults, a price that is reduced to €3 and €3.50 respectively in the case of children and those over 65. This pool is open during regular hours. from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. from mid-June to the end of August.
In addition to cooling off in the pool, this complex has large green areas with a playground for children and sports areas where you can practice futsal and basketball.
In the area there is also a picnic restaurant, there is also an infirmary.
Open from this Friday July 15 until next August 31.
