Gay pride festival in Madrid, are finally here!

Summer is about to arrive. And with it, it comes to Madrid one of the most anticipated festivals, Gay Pride festival, which for several years has made the capital of Spain a symbol of tolerance and diversity.

This year the festivities will take place from 29 June to 3 July, which are expected to participate 2 million people, both locals and visitors from all over the world.

Gay pride in Madrid, a city for everybody

In 2004, our country became a pioneer in approving gay marriage with full and equal rights with respect to traditional marriage. It has been 11 years since this progress, and since then the gay pride festivals celebrated in our city have been growing in fame and number of participants. This year will take place lot of concerts with soloists and bands, such as the Gay Men’s Chorus of Madrid, Darwin, Melody, Razza, Julian Bravo, etc. Of course, we cannot forget the classic «high-heel race» and naturally, which will be the highlight of the festivities, the massive parade on Saturday July 2, starting at Atocha until arriving at the Plaza de Colón.

These long-awaited parties are held in various parts of the city, but the nerve center of all events will take place in Chueca, a neighborhood that is already a global benchmark for the gay community. These days the neighborhood is decorated with wreaths, flags, and all kinds of decorative elements to host all kinds of events, both cultural and claim.
